Weekend Wrap Up

We love the weekends around here! Dad gets to be home and we can all get some much needed family time. Things get so crazy during the week with work and baby so it's so nice when we can stop and slow down together for a few days.

Friday we had beautiful weather! It was 80 degrees and sunny and baby girl and I spent most of the day outside. When my husband got home he joined us for a little bit and then out of no where, the temperatures began to drop. Boo. So, we gathered ourselves together and headed out for some yummy Mexican food.

Saturday the weather was still pretty crumby so we had a low key day at home.

Sunday we were up early and ready to tackle our day! We had church and then in the afternoon we were meeting a potential babysitter. It's always nerve-racking trusting someone other than family to care for your child but at this point it is very necessary. We have only been on two dates in the last eight months without our little girl. It's time. I think we found some great candidates this weekend so I'm excited to try them out this week!

We finished our Sunday night off with dinner at my parents house. It's a blessing that we live about 30 minutes away. Family time is always good for my soul.

We have a surprisingly busy week. I have a few job things that I've been working on pop up this week, and my husband is taking a few days off to recharge!

How We Celebrate...

Valentine's Day!

We are neck deep in all things baby over here! Baby girl has recently discovered how to actually bounce in her bouncer, stand, and reach for everything that she can! I have a strong feeling we have a busy baby on our hands. As wild as things feel around here we are bound and determined to celebrate this sweet little holiday!

Here's what we have on our agenda:

Valentine Pajamas: because is it even a holiday if you don't have holiday themed baby jammies?

Little Gifts: I told my husband he has two Valentines now! So, off he went to buy cards, flowers, and a little bear for baby girl. We didn't go all out but small things that say I'm thinking about you and I love you.

A yummy dinner that we plan to eat AFTER baby girl goes to sleep. This never happens! My husband is supposed to be in charge of dinner and I'll take on dessert. We'll see how this goes!

Meal Planning Monday

Here's to a brand new week! One thing that has always helped my husband and I stay on track with our grocery shopping and healthy eating is meal planning. Pre-baby we would make a list on Saturday mornings and then head out to the store and be really good about ONLY getting what was on our list. We would actually pride ourselves on this trusty little habit.

Well, if we're being honest here, after baby it's been kind of a mess. Some weeks I plan, some weeks we plan, some weeks we don't plan at all and then whoops we're over budget on our groceries...again!  Ya'll dinner time is hard with a baby! It used to be calm, enjoyable, and a way for my husband and I to both wind down at the end of our work days. Now, NOW it's a wild child whose hungry and demands to be fed, then bath time, jammies, books, bottle, and then bed. Wait, when did we eat? I'm not actually sure, but it does seem to happen. Somewhere in between the chaos of our evening routine I suppose. I might eat my dinner in one hand while I'm carrying the baby up for bath time. Who knows?

So, here I am trying my best to take control of our grocery bills and planning out our weekly meals once and for all.

Monday:

Mix and Match Mama's Sausage tray Supper - Roasted Sausage, potatoes,  and veggies. This looks quick and easy to make and clean up - which I'm learning is essential with a baby.

Tuesday:

Spaghetti Squash with Italian Sausage - healthy, easy, and again quick clean up!

Wednesday:

Buddha Bowls - We try and do one veggie night a week and these are a favorite. We usually do quinoa, sweet potatoes, carrots, avocado, lettuce, toasted nuts, and a runny egg on top.

Thursday:

Valentines day dinner - Hopefully coming up with something a little creative for this!

Friday:

Out to eat!- We try to eat at home as much as possible but Fridays are usually our night to grab something quick and not have to worry about clean up!

Here's to hoping this week is less chaotic at dinner time!

7 months

Addie Grace is 7 months and it is blowing my mind how much she has changed since June.

She has been sitting up like a champ.

Reaching for everything and then putting everything she reaches for into her mouth.

Standing.

Learning how to walk in her little walker

So many changes in such a short little time. I don't think I understood the meaning of bittersweet until I became a mom. I love watching her grow but I want to just freeze time and snuggle her to pieces!

Happy 7 months my sweet girl.

Oh Hi there!

Life with a newborn is anything short of crazy. I'm officially a stay at home mom and I feel like I do nothing and everything all at the same time. It is a major shift to go from working a full time job as a teacher to being at home. I can say that both stay at home mommas and working mommas are way under-appreciated. If I could award every parent out there with a massage at the end of each day I totally would. Ya'll this is the greatest and most difficult job I've ever done!

There is so much to figure out all the time and everything changes so quickly. We're constantly learning about sleeping schedules, breast feeding, bottle feeding, introducing real food and everything in between.

Follow along as I navigate how to be a wife and mama and try my best to make each day feel special for my family.
